On Black Friday my mom and I decided that we needed to get up at 3:30 to be at Wa-mart by 4 at the latest. I had to got to the ATM beforehand so we decided to go to the Layton Wal-mart even though the Syracuse Wal-mart is closer to my house. My first mistake of the morning was being a bad mother and not getting a babysitter for Weston. So my poor boy was dragged out of bed at the same time. Luckily he went to bed at 8 so he got a few more hours of sleep then my mom and I. For being plucked from him bed he was in a very happy good-natured mood. Anyway onto the story. So we get to Wal-mart at 4. As we walk in an associate hands us a map of where to find the items on the ad, as they were selectively placed randomly throughout the store on palats (which no one knew where they were). According to the map my mom located where her T.V. was supposed to be. I got lost from her and Weston (she had my purse, cell phone etc.) While I continued to hunt for my camcorder. After asking no lie or exaggeration 20 associates who didn't know where anything was and 3 managers and being lead on a wild goose chase by all of them and looking on every palate throughout the store and department manager named Rose, yes this is her real name though she wasn't as sweet or beautiful as a rose. As you can tell I am a bitter. I get in the site to store line that is from shoes to the toys. I have to listen to an elderly gentleman complain that this is ridiculous to wait in line and that there are just too many people, etc, etc. ETC. The line slowly starts to move about 5. Well at a quarter to 5 when I am about 25 people from the counter I kindly as the people I had been standing by to save my place. The graciously agreed to do so. I went up to the lady who told you when it was your turn and I asked her if this is where the camcorders. Now here is where is gets good. She tells me, "I don't think so let me as that lade." And who should that lady be, why ROSE!!!! Rose then proceeds to tell me that this isn't where you get the camcorders they are over by infants and shoes. I then proceed to remind her that she had been the one to tell me I had to get in this line. She of course denied telling me this. So I walk away totally UpsEt, furious, frustrated you name it and trying to hold back tears. I call my mom to find out where she is and tell her what happened. If you know my mom she was just as mad as I was and told me that wasn't acceptable so we called the store manager while we were waiting in line. I proceed to yell at him and demand a rain check. He tells me they won't be getting that camera in again so a rain check won't be of use. I then proceed to tell him I want some sort of compensation for the stores lack of organization and customer service. He then asks how he is supposed to do that? Well I am so frustrated so I hang up. Mom then proceeds to call him back and tell him she either wants that camera or one of equal value. He was much more cooperative with her and told her he would call her by Tuesday with what they were going to do. I really didn't think we would ever hear from him again. But shock of all shocks he called on Saturday and said he had the camcorder, he even gave us a bag and memory card for free for our troubles.
After the Wal-mart fiasco we made it over to Toys R Us just hoping what we were looking for was still there. And to our luck the kitchen set for Weston was still there for only $49. I was going to get him a big stuffed elmo that talked for $10. While waiting in the line that wrapped literally around the whole store we spotted Elmo Lives. He is adorable my mom and I feel in love with him just as much as Weston. So $60 we got Elmo Lives. The funny thing is Weston doesn't watch T.V. so I have no clue where this love of Elmo came from but he just loves Elmo and he says it so sweetly.
Then we headed over to Shopko and got Weston a new coat and snow overalls all for $23. We also got him some pj's. Between Wal-mart, Shopko and Toys R Us you could say my 2 year old is done.
We then proceeded to head over to Tai Pan to buy new ornaments. That is when Weston decided he had enough of this whole shopping situation. So at 10:30 we headed home and Weston took at nap from 11-3. I slept a little but not nearly as much as I wanted to.
But oh no Black Friday is not done with us yet. Weston proceeds to start a fever around 6. He snuggles with me on the couch at 7 and is out for the night. He was lucky so good natured all day for getting ripped from his bed and coming down with a fever.
Needless to say this was an eventful year and I don't know how willing I am going to be to do it all again next year. Ugh!!!!!!!!!! I am sure I will.
