Taylyn is one month!!!!!!

I love this owl!  The cutest boy in my class last year gave it to me.  I thought he would be a great way to measure her growth with.
 LOVE this picture!

Even though she isn't happy here its just the cutest picture!!!

I want to be really good at doing monthly updates on Taylyn.  I wish I had been better with the boys.  I recorded a lot in their baby books but not here.

Clothes: she is in all newborn clothes still and some 0-3 months but they are big on her still

Diaper: newborn

Sleeping: she goes to sleep any where from 9-11 and then wakes up about twice a night to nurse then sleeps in until 8ish.

Eating: she is nursing every 2-3 hours, sometimes she will go 4 hours.

Personality:  She is pretty happy baby.  Loves to be held.  But will also sit in her swing or bouncer for a few minutes too.

Anything new:  Tay gets the hiccups several times a day and she is pretty good with them but gets a little frustrated with them after a few minutes.

Taylyn's Birth Story

This is going to be a pretty long post but I wanted to document Taylyn's birth story.  On July 11, 2013 I woke up and had to go to the bathroom (nothing unusual there).  As I was bending down to take my underwear down I felt like I peed a little (tmi sorry).  I thought to myself I can't believe I peed myself.  So I got up and showered and got ready for my 38 week doctors appointment.  I got there and the boys and I had to wait awhile which is pretty unusual for my dr.  My appointment was at 10:30 and we didn't get back in until about 11.  He came in and we were discussing the particulars about my getting induced the next Thursday the 18th.  I then asked how big he thought she was going to be.  He said I would say about 7 pounds 8 oz. at least.  He then checked me and said, "well your 2 cm dilated and 90% effaced still and....I just broke your water so, I guess we are going to find out today how much she weighs."  I was just shocked I couldn't believe it I wasn't going to have to wait a whole other week to have my sweet girl in my arms she was going to come today.  Today was the day I was going to give birth for the very last time.  I was a little nervous whenever my water breaks I have the baby within an hour so I was not sure if I was going to have time to get the boys to a sitter and get to the hospital.  But luckily I didn't have any contractions.  I felt more pressure then I had earlier in the day but no contractions.  So I hurried and got dressed and called Jon in the elevator.  I called him at work and said, "well my dr broke my water."  Jon:  "What?  Are you okay?  Where are you?"  I told him I was at the drs office and that I had to find a sitter for the boys and that he needed to meet me at home then we would head to the hospital to have our baby girl.  I then called my mom and told her what had happened.  I was in a little bit of a panic as to what to do with the boys.  My good friend Rachel was planning on watching them but she had just gone to Chicago the day before on a family vacation and wouldn't be home until the 17th.  I called Jimmy's girlfriend to see if she was still at our house.  She wasn't so I called Jon's grandparents to see if they would watch the boys.  They said they would so I dropped them off at their house and then went to pick up my mom.  When I got home Jon was frantically straightening up the house.  He also was worried about how fast I would go as I always go fast once my water has broken.  I told him at that point I had only had one contraction.  I felt fine and to go ahead and shower.  He had mentioned he was going to shave that day then didn't.  I knew he would want to look nice when meeting his daughter :) so I told him to go ahead and shave too while I packed my bags.  Jon had asked his brother Jimmy if he wanted to be in the room when I delivered.  So we called him and he was on his way home for lunch.  Once we were already we went up to the hospital.

We got to the hospital around 12:15 or 12:30ish.  We got all registered and taken to my room.  My dr came on his lunch break to get this going and check me.  I was hooked up to the fetal monitors, and Pitocin around 1.  My dr said okay we will start you out slowly since you go so fast and we will shoot to have a baby around 4:30, 5.  I was thinking ya right I bet we have one much sooner then that.  Well the started me on a low does of Pitocin.  So I felt really well.  My contractions were 1 every 5-10 minutes but not intense they felt like they had for weeks.  Jimmy's girlfriend brought everyone lunch (except me, and yes they all ate in front of me so nice of them not!)  Jon had us watching the Zimmerman trial so I facebooked and called people and texted.  I continued to leak fluid as she would descend down further and further.  At 3ish I was only a 3 almost a 4.  Contractions were still super mild.  Then they checked me at 4:15 because they were getting a little more intense I was 4 almost 5 at that point.  My contractions started to get more and more intense from then on.  Then at 4:45 my dr came in and checked me I was a 6.  He said there was another pocket of fluid in there and he broke that.  He then said to page him when I felt like I had to push.  Well I got up and went to the bathroom.  Had another contraction or two and suddenly felt like I had to push.  I turned to Jon and said, "get them in here I need to push!"  They paged the nurse and told them I could push and my dr came in.  The funniest thing he said was, "everytime I put my hands in you something happens."  Jon was just like um what do I say to that.  I don't think my dr even realized how that sounded.  Looking back Jon and I think its pretty funny now.

Sitting in the hospital bed waiting for things to get going.

Jon and I looking at the contractions on the monitor.

Jimmy and his girlfriend went out into the hall at this point as the dr was pulling out the stirrups and breaking down the table.  My mom got the camera out and Jon moved into position.  My whole labor Jon was so amazing sitting in the chair next to me, giving me back rubs when I needed them, helping me get to the restroom, and checking my contractions.  Jon doesn't do well with blood and after he almost passed out with Cason we decided it would be best if he just stay at the head of the bed with me.  When it was time to push I remember I turned to Jon in a panic and said I don't want to do this.  He reassuringly told me it would be the last time I would have to do this and that I would be great!  It was a nice moment.  Then the fun began not....

The nurse held one leg and my mom held the other leg and I started to push.  The first push was hard.  The contraction makes it so you feel like you can't move and here you are having to curl up basically and do a crunch.  They told me that was a great push.  I remember with Cason not pushing the right way as I was worried about having a bowel movement but this time I just buckled down and pushed the right way right away I just wanted her out no matter the pain.  I pushed again for what seemed like an eternity but I wasn't only about a minute and they said they could see lots of hair.  At that point I was like let's do this.  I pushed again he said it was great I just needed a contraction to help her down.  Which happened while I pushed he told me to stop pushing.  Turns out her cord was wrapped around her neck once and he had to undo it.  I then pushed again, felt a lot of burning and then she was out!  She let out a huge beautiful cry and Jon all the sudden started crying and hugging me and telling he how much he loved me it was a beautiful moment.  Even more so since with the boys he teared up but with Taylyn he was full on crying that really sticks with me the emotion he felt.  Jon got to cut the umbilicial cord and because of the way positioned I was able to see everything.  Jon stayed by me for a minute then he went with my mom and the nurse to weigh Taylyn and clean her up.  I was SHOCKED when they said she was 7 pounds 15 oz.  I mean that is almost a whole pound bigger then Cason and was over a pound bigger then Cason.  I won't lie it made me slightly sad.  As she is my last I want her to stay tiny.  My kids since they were littler did stay tiny longer and I am worried she will get big way too fast for my liking.  I really want to freeze each stage with her.

Her apgar scores were 9 and 9 she lost a point both times from the coloring.

First family pictures.  The first time I got to hold her.

Jimmy and his girlfriend came back into the room and Jimmy was all in tears.  Him and Jon hugged each other it was a sweet moment.  I got to hold Taylyn once she was wrapped up.  I then had to hand her over to Jon while they did something with me.  Then my mom, Jimmy, and Jen took turns holding her.  We were all instantly in love.  Jimmy and Jen then went to go get the boys from his grandma's.  I was very excited to see how the boys reacted.  I figured they were going to be excited because when I we were leaving the doctors and I was telling them we would be having baby sister that day Weston said, "you mean we will get to hold sister today!  Wahoo!"  Well when they came in they looked at me and then around.  I think it was a little overwhelming for them.  I asked if they wanted to see the baby to which they responded, "no!"  Great just the horrible reaction I was dreading.  They were fighting with each other and just being sort of brats to be honest.  I think it was because the day was so mixed up for them but it really hurt my feelings.  While they were there they took me to my recovery room.  The boys thought that it was pretty cool I got to ride in a wheel chair.

Beautiful flowers and balloon Jimmy and Jen gave me.

Then Jon took the boys and my mom home and got dinner.  We had a great dinner of yummy chick fila.  I was so hungry because here it was about 9 at night and I hadn't eaten in 24 hours.  Oh I was starving.  The night was very uncomfortable for me as the kept the Pitocin on until almost midnight and I started having the worst contractions.  I finally asked why I couldn't get it taken out and they did.  I still only got about 3 or 4 hours of sleep as I couldn't sleep from all the excitement and from the nurses coming in.  Taylyn swallowed some blood and fluid during delievery so she had a few rough moments that first night where she would have a hard time breathing do to chocking on the fluid which freaked me out a little.  My mom told me later that I had a ton of fluid in me as I had been losing it all day then during delievery when the doctor was removing the cord and suctioning her out there was tons of fluid coming out she was like get her out she is drowning, which might explain all the fluid she drank.

We spent most the day just enjoying each other.  My doctor was willing to let me go but the pediatrician wanted to keep Taylyn another night because she had some bruising from birth and broken capillaries which can lead to jaundice so they wanted to make she didn't develop jaundice.  My mom and the boys made cupcakes for the nurses and brought them up.  Cason was much more willing to hold Tay when Weston wasn't around to bug so we got some sweet pictures of him holding her and giving her a kiss.  I sent Jon home that night since we literally live 5 minutes if that from the hospital I told him to go home and be with the boys and get a good nights sleep.  I got a little better nights sleep I got about 4 or 5 hours.  Then the next morning we were cleared to leave.  We got home about noon.

 I love his face!

Ms. Taylyn all dressed for the first time.  And yes it was every bit as much fun as I thought it was going to be to dress her up for the first time!  Isn't she beautiful?
 All ready to go!
When we got home I showered which totally wiped me out so I went to lay down.  I left Tay sleeping in her carseat and when I rolled over Cason and Weston were peering into her carseat to watch her.  They moved before I could take the picture.
A little while later I rolled over again when Tay started crying.  Turns out Cason thought she would like the blankets off her bed, and some toys.  Yes I would say these boys are wrapped around her finger already.
Needless to say we are all in love.  Welcome to our family Taylyn.  Now our family is complete!  (unless I can convince Jon for one more wink)
