Wednesday, February 6, 2013 is a day I will never forget. It was the day we found out the gender of baby #3. To say I didn't sleep much the night before would be a vast understatement. Jon and I were both up around 3 a.m. Baby started moving around so it was fun to feel its little flutters. The morning went pretty fast but the afternoon DRAGGED. Now Jon's team had made it to the superbowl on Sunday and he had told me when they won the playoffs that our chances for a girl just went up 10-20%. I then said if the 49ers win the superbowl will I get a girl for sure. He said he wasn't God so he couldn't guarantee it. Unfortunately for me the 49ers didn't win the superbowl. They were super close but didn't make it.
Weston at first had said he wanted a sister. But then about a month ago to be funny a shit and contrary decided he would want a brother. I think he did it because he would say boy and Cason and I would say sister and we would go back and forth so I think he liked the game of it.
I picked Jon up from work and we headed down to fetal foto in Murray. I had brought him clothes to change into after work but he said he was fine. I didn't think anything of this but it will come into play later in the story. I was worried that it wouldn't cooperate and not let us get a good shot since I was so hopeful to find out. We have never found out sooner then 20 weeks and I was exactly 16 weeks along. I read online that I should eat sugar or drink caffeine before the ultrasound so I had like 5 sips of coke which I haven't had for months before I found out I was pregnant it was heavenly. Then we headed in. It was so fun to see the baby moving around. Seeing the legs kick and its arms moving around and the heartbeat it was so neat but I have to say I was so NERVOUS! I was expecting at any moment her to say, "its a boy!" But the baby didn't want to cooperate. The baby was either sticking its legs straight out like this photo:
Or it would curl its legs up right under the bum. The whole while the tech was bruising my stomach looking at the baby for a good position, Weston kept asking, "is it a boy? Its a boy huh?" Cason pretty much just was happy to play games on the phone I don't think he could see the baby on the tv, I don't think Weston could for that matter. After about 10 minutes she said my bladder was in the way and had my go empty it. I came back in and after a few minutes I thought I say the money shot and I didn't see a penis but she didn't say anything so I said to myself that must not be it. Weston asked again if she could tell. He was stressing me out even more then I already was. The tech said she was pretty sure she could see but didn't want to say until she could get one more look. She had me lay on my side for about 5 minutes to get the baby to flip. Jon was being so sweet and I could tell he was getting nervous as I we wouldn't be able to see. She came back in and with in a minute or two she said okay I can tell you ready? Jon grabbed my hand and squeezed it. Then this is what she typed:
Those sweet, wonderful, MIRACULOUS words instantly brought great big tears to my eyes. Jon squeeszed my hand again and gave me a kiss. He kept staring at me. I kept crying just being so unbelieveablly HAPPY. I love my boys more then a million girls. But I have been desperate for a girl. We tried trying a different way to get a girl. I followed the chinese birth chart to get my girl and I GOT MY GIRL. She said she could see the three dots that indicate labia. Also there was nothing between her legs. SHe said DEFINATELY GIRL. As we walked out the door Jon pulled me into a hug and told me how much he loved me and he kissed me over and over. To say I couldn't stop smiling would be an understatement. When we left Jon and I instantly starting texting and calling people. Cason was super excited and by the time we got home Weston was as well. Jon was so excited he forgot to stop in Bountiful and pick up his car lol ooops.
That night I couldn't sleep at all again. All I could think about was dresses, bowes, and headbands. I have been on cloud 9 ever since its amazing. Let the name game begin. I will leave you with the rest of the ultrasound pics of my baby GIRL!
This is the pic I saw when I was thinking it must be a girl but she didn't say anything.
And here is her sweet profile. Isn't it so cute? Look at her little nose. I am in love!
